Film Crew Training - Check It Out
The New Mexico Film Office is offering an orientation session on its program to retrain laid off workers for the film industry.
The Film Office and the Department of Workforce Solutions will offer a second session on the Retrain and Sustain film crew training program on April 8 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Kachina Ballroom at the Lodge at Santa Fe, 750 N. St. Francis Dr. The session is being presented in conjunction with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 480.
The session is free, but attendees must RSVP. The objective is to provide information about how experienced carpenters, painters, sheet metal fabricators, welders and landscapers can transfer those job skills into opportunities with the film industry, which is booming here in large part because of generous state tax incentives.
The event is not a job fair, but an informational seminar. Four film crew professionals will discuss their craft and session attendees will be offered an opportunity to sign up for specific training that is currently being organized.
To register, send an e-mail to info@nmfilm.com or call (505) 476-5603.
